The President of Malawi Sends a Message to King Mohammed VI

Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, received, on Friday in Rabat, the former President of Malawi, Elson Bakili Muluzi, bringing a message to King Mohammed VI from the President of the Republic of Malawi, Lazarus Shakwera.

In a statement to the press after the meeting, the Special Envoy of the Malawian President hailed the excellent relations between his country and Morocco.

The former president of Malawi also expressed his satisfaction with the dynamic in relations between the two countries, stressing that an ambassador would be dispatched “as soon as possible to represent his country in Rabat”.

Adding that “Morocco, a growing economy, has strong development potential in Africa, and I consider it important for us to establish cooperative relations with the Kingdom”.

Relations between Morocco and Malawi have known a dynamic development in all fields since this southern African country withdrew its recognition of the phantom republic.

In addition, Malawi was one of the first countries to open a consulate general in El-Ayoun, in July 2021, a step that ushered in a new era marked by the strengthening of Moroccan-Malawi relations and the development of cooperation in all areas of common interest.
