The president of the transition in Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore reacted Thursday to accusations that presume the responsibility of the army in the massacre of Karma, committed on 20th April by men in military uniform.

In an interview on Burkinabe public television, Captain Ibrahim Traore called for avoiding “hasty conclusions” on this subject.

In this sense, Ibrahim Traoré said that the fact that the attackers came with pickups and army uniforms is not sufficient evidence to accuse the Defence and Security Forces (FDS).

Arguing that the army lost pickups and armored vehicles during the attacks committed by jihadists in the country, Mr. Traoré added that an investigation has been opened in this case by the prosecutor of Ouahigouya to determine responsibilities.

Captain Traoré also denounced the actions of a coalition that is fighting against jihadist violence in Burkina Faso.

In this context, the transitional president of Burkina Faso pointed out that several countries have refused to sell equipment to his country.

This opposition may be because Burkina has turned to strategic allies such as Turkey and Russia and North Korea and has turned its back on France.

Mr. Traoré said that his country will continue its cooperation with these countries in the fight against jihadists.
