Malawi: At Least 66 People Killed Following Another Passage of Cyclone Freddy

According to a recent report released on March 13, 2023, by the local Red Cross, Cyclone Freddy’s latest passage through southern Africa has resulted in the loss of at least 66 lives in Malawi.

As per a statement made by the Malawi Red Cross Society on its Twitter account, Tropical Cyclone Freddy has caused substantial damage, impacting over 2,115 individuals in Malawi.

The statement further adds that 66 individuals have lost their lives, 93 others have been injured, and 16 people are currently reported missing due to the cyclone.

On the way to being classified as the longest cyclone ever recorded by meteorologists, Freddy had already affected Madagascar and Mozambique at the end of February.
