On a visit to strengthen the United States’ influence in Central Asia, Antony Blinken, The US Secretary of State, declared on Tuesday his support for Kazakhstan.

Blinken said the United States strongly supports Kazakhstan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence.

This statement makes sense in the context of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, which raises concerns, especially since Kazakhstan shares some 7,500 kilometers of border with Russia.

As part of this tour aimed at strengthening the weight of the United States in the region caught between Russia and China, the head of the American diplomacy must meet with his counterparts in the five former Soviet republics of Central Asia, namely Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan.

Antony Blinken thus assured that the United States was “determined to strengthen” its relations with Kazakhstan.

The Kazakh president, who was re-elected in November, thanked the United States for its “constant and strong support” and said he wanted to “deepen and strengthen” the partnership between Astana and Washington.
