Peter Obi, one of the presidential candidates in Nigeria, addressed his supporters in Lagos on Saturday.

He is a 61-year-old former governor of Anambra State. He is backed by the Labour Party and is running as the main challenger to the two main Nigerian parties that have been in power for years, the APS and the PDP.

In the last presidential election in 2019, Peter Obi was a vice presidential candidate of the opposition PDP.

Muyiwa Ojeniyi, a pension administrator, said she voted for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) last time, and now she will vote for Peter Obi, who she believes has the hand to save the country’s future, adding that since he filed his nomination, the FCC (anti-corruption agency) has not mentioned him “which shows that he has nothing to hide and can be confidently trusted.

Peter Obi has been gaining popularity lately thanks to his outreach to politically active Nigerian youth on social media.

The presidential elections scheduled for 25 February are a power struggle. The candidates who want to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari are using arguments relating to the security challenges and the economic crisis facing the country to convince the people.
