Kenya Airways (KQ) has filed a formal complaint against the army of the Democratic Republic of Congo for reportedly detaining two of its staff members in violation of a court order demanding their release.

Reports indicate that the employees were apprehended by DR Congo’s military intelligence unit last Friday on suspicion of lacking proper customs documentation for valuable cargo. Despite Kenya Airways’ assertion that they declined to accept the cargo due to incomplete paperwork, the military detained them until Tuesday.

Despite a court decision on Thursday ordering their immediate release pending further investigation, the individuals remain in custody without communication, reportedly at the hands of the military intelligence unit.

Additionally, Kenya Airways has raised concerns that their employees’ phones were confiscated during the arrest. The nature of the cargo in question remains undisclosed, and DR Congo authorities have yet to provide any official statement on the matter.
