On Sunday, the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the “perfidious” attack on a secondary school in south-western Uganda that left at least 41 people dead.

While offering its most sincere condolences to the families of the victims and the government and friendly people of Uganda, Libya stressed its support for and solidarity with Uganda, the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry reiterated Libya’s firm position in condemning all terrorist or hateful practices, emphasizing its support for regional and international efforts to combat such acts.

It should be recalled that according to police and military sources, suspected rebels from the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) attacked the Lhubirira secondary school in Mpondwe, located about 2 km from the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), on Friday evening, killing at least 37 pupils, a security guard and three members of the local community.

The ADF group, a branch of the Islamic State in Central Africa based in the jungles of eastern DRC, is responsible for wreaking havoc in villages in the region.
