In a statement issued on Monday, the Tunisian Ministry of Defense announced that Tunisia will host the military maneuvers “African Lion 2023”, in cooperation with the U.S. Africa Command, in addition to joint military exercises with Saudi Arabia in the field of special forces and medical support.

This military exercise will be organized, for the third consecutive time, from 8 to 31 May 2023 in the Ben Gilouf area in the province of Gabes, with the participation of members of the Tunisian armed forces, the same source said.

These military maneuvers include theoretical courses, field exercises, joint exercises, and naval and air military operations, the ministry said.

These joint exercises aim to exchange expertise in the military field, strengthen operational capacities, and prepare to fight against transnational crime.

Thus, the exchange of experiences in joint operational planning and medical and cyber security interventions are at the heart of these exercises.

It should be recalled that these military maneuvers have been organized every year since 2016, with the participation of several African countries.
