A devastating fire broke out at the Emhlangeni informal settlement in Roodepoort, On Sunday, causing multiple homes to be engulfed in flames. Joburg Emergency Medical Services (EMS) quickly responded to the incident and worked alongside firefighters who were already on the scene to control and minimize the damage.
Unfortunately, at least 11 dwellings were completely destroyed by the inferno, leaving around 80 to 100 people displaced. Despite the severity of the fire, EMS’s Robert Mulaudzi reported that no injuries or fatalities were recorded.
The exact cause of the fire is still unknown and is currently under investigation. Nevertheless, the EMS and other authorities are doing everything they can to provide support and assistance to the affected individuals and families during this difficult time.
