Forbes: 5 Moroccan businesswomen among the most powerful in the Arab region

Forbes magazine’s list of the most powerful businesswomen in the Arab region for the year 2023 included five well-known Moroccan women in the business world in Morocco.

Businesswoman Salwa Akhannouch, the wife of Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch, ranked first among Moroccans and 17th among Arabs on the list. Represented by the group in which she holds the position of the founder and CEO, also is the exclusive agent for more than 45 international brands in Morocco.

The second in Morocco and the nineteenth in the Arab world is Maryam Bensalah Chaqroun, who heads a mineral water company within a family group whose revenues in 2021 amounted to about $1.3 billion.

Ghitha Maria Zniber ranked third, and she heads a Moroccan group active in the food and beverage sectors.

Lamia Al-Tazi, a specialist in the pharmaceutical industry, ranked fourth in Morocco and 65th in the Arab world, the company she heads produces about 60 million pharmaceutical products annually in six production units in Morocco.

The fifth Moroccan businesswoman was Saida Karim El Amrani, who ranked 80th in the Arab world, thanks to her chairmanship of a group specializing in the retail sector.

El Amrani also the daughter of the late Mohamed Karim El Amrani, who held the position of Prime Minister during the reign of the late King Hassan II.
