As many countries suffer from cold waves during this period, the South African government has issued its citizens to exercise caution after eight people died due to the heat wave.

In a statement, the Head of the Government Communications Service (GCIS), Michael Coren, urged residents to take precautions during this period to avoid heat-related health complications.

He recommended that residents should drink water, wear light clothes, and take regular breaks to avoid exhaustion for those who work under sunlight.

Temperatures rose above 40C in some parts of the country, and the South African Meteorological Service expects temperatures to drop by the end of the week.
