The 6th African Women in Media conference (AWiM2022), initiated by the African Women in Media Organisation (AWIM), a network of African women working in the media industries worldwide, opened today in Fez and will continue until December 09.

Organised in partnership with the University Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah of Fez, this event, which brings together media professionals, academics, political actors and associations, is an excellent space for sharing best practices and experiences in gender equality and media development in Africa.

In a circumstantial speech, AWIM’s co-founder and Executive Director, Yemisi Akinbobola from Niger, said that this is the first time the conference is being held face-to-face in a North African country.

During the conference, the quantitative and qualitative aspects of the presence of women in the media on the African continent were discussed.

Furthermore, the President of the High Authority for Audiovisual Communication, Mrs Latifa Akharbach, also delivered a speech on this occasion.
