Moroccan Security Forces Thwart Attempted Border Attack on Occupied Melilla

Moroccan security forces have successfully stopped an attempt to breach the border fence surrounding the occupied city of Melilla, the incident took place on Monday night, when a group of around 100 young Moroccan migrants tried to cross the border in pursuit of the “European dream”.

The assault happened at the “Barichino” crossing in the Chinese neighborhood, and only four of the attackers managed to enter the city.

According to Spanish media reports, Moroccan public forces used riot control equipment to stop the border intruders. Loud explosions were heard from both sides of the border.

A video shared by activists on social media showed the presence of security vehicles and public force members stationed near the border fence encompassing the slumbering city of Melilla. Spanish Civil Guard vehicles and personnel were also deployed in the occupied enclave.

The incident highlights the ongoing challenges related to irregular migration and border security in the region. Irregular migration has been a significant issue in the area, with migrants attempting to cross the border into Spanish territories, including Melilla and Ceuta, which are located in North Africa.

As of now, Moroccan authorities have not issued any official statements regarding the attempted border breach by the irregular migrants.
