On Wednesday, the United Kingdom implemented sanctions against enterprises that were identified as having associations with Sudanese military factions responsible for the enduring conflict in the North African region.

In an official statement, the government revealed that it has imposed sanctions on six commercial entities, specifically targeting businesses affiliated with the two conflicting factions involved in the ongoing hostilities.

Foreign Minister James Cleverly expressed the imperative of taking proactive measures, stating, “We mustn’t passively observe the financial resources from these companies, which directly contribute to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) or Sudan Armed Forces (SAF), being expended on a futile and senseless conflict.

The imposition of these sanctions follows recent estimations indicating that the number of individuals displaced by the conflict, which commenced three months ago, has now exceeded three million.

Numerous corporations affiliated with the RSF have faced sanctions, notably Al-Junaid, identified by the British government as a significant contributor, providing “considerable financial support in the range of tens of millions” to the paramilitary group. GSK Advance Company Ltd and Trading General Trading are additional entities that have encountered repercussions due to their association with the RSF.
