On Tuesday, the US authorities announced the death of a South Carolina woman who was attacked by a crocodile while walking with her dog near a golf course.

According to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office in a press release, the unnamed 69-year-old woman was found dead in the Spanish Wells area of Hilton Head Island.

The same source continued, “The dead woman was found near the edge of a lake on the borders of a golf course, where it seemed that the crocodile remained close to the woman, which impeded rescue efforts”, stating that “the crocodile was removed from the scene of the attack, and the woman’s body was recovered and transferred to a hospital for the autopsy”.

The police chief reported that this was the second fatal attack by a crocodile in the county since an incident last year, when a crocodile attacked an 88-year-old Sun City woman in a lake near her home in August 2022.
