In Sudan, the conflict continues, with no prospect of easing. In Khartoum in particular, the fighting has been particularly violent for several days between the men of Generals Burhan and Hemedti.

Once again, the inhabitants of the Sudanese capital who were unable or unwilling to leave the city were awakened to the sound of cannons and aircraft overflights. According to one of them, joined by AFP, the artillery exchanges began at 4:00 a.m. on Monday, July 3rd, and continued during the day.

General Burhan has called on young people and men to enlist and fight alongside his regular army. He made this call during his speech on the eve of Eid.

The fighting also ignites the provinces. The UN has denounced its growing “ethnic dimension” as well as the possible crimes against humanity committed in Darfur, mainly by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of General Daglo, said Hemedti, and their allied tribes.

In a video, seven traditional chiefs in South Darfur called for support for the RSF against the regular army, while fighting for control of Nyala, the capital of this province, continued.
