The AU strongly condemns the terrorist attack on a school in Uganda

The African Union (AU) has strongly condemned the heinous terrorist attack perpetrated by a suspected Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) militia, which targeted a secondary school in western Uganda, killing at least 42 students.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Chairperson of the AU Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, “strongly condemned the heinous and shocking terrorist attack perpetrated by a suspected Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) militia, which targeted a secondary school in western Uganda, near the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo, killing at least 42 students, injuring more and leaving others missing”.

The Chairperson of the AU Commission expressed his sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wished the injured students a full recovery.

In the same context, Mr Moussa Faki Mahamat “reiterated the need for an urgent holistic regional approach to address the threat posed by all terrorist and armed groups operating from the Democratic Republic of Congo, in order to ensure regional security”.
