Amidst the tragic loss of 29 lives in Hammanskraal due to the cholera outbreak, the City of Tshwane has asserted that families and residents who have suffered the loss of loved ones hold the legal right to initiate a class action lawsuit against the city.
Religious leader Moafrika Wa Maila from Hammanskraal recently announced his support in assisting affected families in seeking legal action against the government, highlighting the urgency of holding accountable those responsible.
Tshwane’s Executive Mayor, Cilliers Brink, emphasized the importance of identifying the source of the cholera outbreak to establish causality and determine liability. He expressed the city’s commitment to transparently share information with all relevant entities, including the three spheres of government, institutions, and NGOs, in the quest to uncover the origins of the outbreak and ensure justice is served.
