Health Minister Joe Phaahla has announced a positive development in the ongoing battle against cholera. According to him, there have been no new fatalities resulting from the disease over the past seven days. This news comes amidst a recent outbreak that has already claimed the lives of 24 individuals in northern Pretoria and the Free State.

Joe Phaahla emphasized that while the number of confirmed cholera cases stands at 99, there has been a remarkable decrease in the severity of the illness. The minister highlighted the significant decline in serious cases and even those with symptoms such as diarrhea. He attributed this positive trend to the fact that people are seeking medical attention at an early stage, allowing for prompt treatment and effective management.

The decline in cholera cases and the absence of new deaths over the past week signify a positive turn in the battle against this devastating disease. The focus on early detection and swift intervention has proven effective in minimizing the impact of cholera on the affected communities. However, it remains essential to remain vigilant and maintain preventive measures to ensure a continued decline in cases and a complete eradication of the outbreak.
