In Brazzaville, China has donated medical and school kits and food for children at the Béthanie orphanage and the Integration and Reintegration Centre for Vulnerable Children (Cirev), as part of a joint China-Congo initiative entitled “Comforting the Soul of the Child”.

The aid was donated by the wife of the Chinese Head of State, Mrs. Peng Liyuan, and delivered by the Chinese ambassador to the Congo, Ma Fulin, to the Secretary General of the Congo Assistance Foundation, Mr. Michel Mongo.

The donation includes essential medicines, educational games, school, and office supplies, bags of rice, cans of oil and bleach, and smoked fish.

On this occasion, Mr. Ma Fulin stated that this joint action was the result of a joint initiative by Peng Liyuan and the organization of African First Ladies for Development, and reflects the concern of the Chinese government and people.

The Chinese diplomat added that this action testifies to the level of concern of Mrs. Peng Liyuan and the First Lady of the Congo, Mrs. Antoinette Sassou-N’Guesso, for the well-being of Congolese children.

In the same context, Mr. Ma Fulin recalled that in 2024, the two countries will celebrate the 60th anniversary of Sino-Congolese diplomatic relations, expressing on this occasion his country’s willingness to work in concert with Congo to promote their comprehensive strategic partnership, and to give new impetus to the construction of a shared China-Africa community of the future.

In her message, read out by the Minister for Social Affairs and Humanitarian Action, Irène Marie Cécile Mboukou-Kimbatsa, the President of the Congo Assistance Foundation, Antoinette Sassou-N’Guesso, thanked Peng Liyuan and said that the Congo was counting on the development of friendly ties between the two peoples in the future, and on the conviction that cooperation between China and the African states would make qualitative progress for the benefit of the respective populations.
