Police in Lira City are currently investigating the horrifying murder of a security guard employed by PSG Security Company. The victim, David Ogolo, 27, was stationed alone at Apwoyo Distributors Limited Shop on Bala Road in Lira City when he was brutally attacked by unknown assailants on Thursday night.

Authorities were alerted on Friday morning after discovering Ogolo’s lifeless body with a deep cut wound on his neck. The company supervisor, Charles Ojok, immediately reported the incident to Lira City Central Police Station, prompting a team of detectives, led by OC Station, to visit the crime scene. They thoroughly documented the area and collected the deceased’s body, which was later taken to Lira Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the motive behind the attack remains unknown. Concerns have also been raised regarding the security company’s management practices, including deploying guards alone and without firearms. The police have previously emphasized the risks associated with such practices and are urging anyone with information that could aid in identifying and apprehending the assailants to come forward.

Tragically, Ogolo’s murder marks the fifth incident involving security guards within just six days. In a separate incident yesterday, Rogers Atuhaire, a guard employed by SGA Security Company, allegedly took his own life in Nakasero III parish, Kampala central division. Another security guard from a different private security firm was arrested in Tororo District on Wednesday after allegedly shooting and killing a colleague. Similar incidents have also occurred in Makindye, Kampala, and Arua City.

The police are committed to conducting a thorough investigation into these tragic cases and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
