The Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in South Africa has produced a video entitled “Mandela and Morocco, united against colonialism and apartheid”, highlighting Morocco’s role in supporting Pretoria and other African countries to achieve independence.

Ambassador Youssef Amrani said in this video that “Morocco and Nelson Mandela have a common history, a shared and unique heritage in the fight against apartheid and colonialism.

In this sense, Mr. Amrani recalled the unwavering support of Morocco to Nelson Mandela during the most difficult moments of the history of the African National Congress (ANC).

Thus, the Moroccan ambassador maintained that the statements made by President Mandela, during his successive visits to Morocco, remind us of the unique character and the beautiful era that united the Kingdom of Morocco and South Africa.

This era consecrates the impact of the union of African countries as one nation and one continent, Amrani added.

In his book “A Long Way to Freedom”, Mandela highlighted the cultural diversity of the Moroccan capital, making it a fascinating blend of Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.
