As per the accounts of reporters who were present at the scene, it has been revealed that the humanitarian staff has successfully retrieved a minimum of 72 dead bodies from a village situated in the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The flooding incident occurred on Thursday and caused significant damage to the affected area.

The provincial government stated in a press release on Thursday that the torrential rainfall in Congo’s South Kivu province resulted in a river overflowing and causing substantial destruction and loss of life in the nearby villages of Bushushu and Nyamukubi. However, no precise figures were given regarding the number of casualties resulting from the incident.

On Friday, journalists present in Bushushu witnessed humanitarian workers sifting through the debris and recovering bodies, a majority of which were women and children. The reporters were able to count at least 72 deceased individuals.
