As fighting continues between the Sudanese army and paramilitaries, repatriation operations for foreign civilians began on Saturday.

Saudi Arabia repatriated 50 of its citizens as well as nationals of other countries through Port Sudan arriving in the port city of Jeddah.

The United States, Japan and South Korea consulted with neighbouring countries by deploying their forces in these countries to evacuate their nationals and diplomatic personnel.

For its part, the French Foreign Office coordinated with the Ministry of the Armed Forces a rapid evacuation operation of diplomatic personnel and nationals in Sudan.

Egypt urged their nationals to move to other cities to facilitate their repatriation.

Other countries such as Lebanon and Kuwait issued communiqués informing of the repatriation of their nationals.

On 15 April, clashes began between the army of General Abdel Fattah al-Burhane and General Mohamed Hamdane Daglo, head of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

The commitment to a ceasefire to allow civilians to flee and foreigners to be repatriated was not respected by the other parties.
