South African President Cyril Ramaphosa expressed his views on the BRICS summit scheduled for August during talks with his Namibian counterpart, Hage Geingob, who is on a visit to Pretoria.

Ramaphosa said invitations have been sent to BRICS members, including Russia, even though Vladimir Putin is the subject of a Criminal Court arrest warrant.

In this regard, Ramaphosa expressed that his country has taken note of the ICC decision, stressing that discussions and studies are underway to find a solution to this issue.

He also added that he is awaiting confirmation from BRICS members to attend the August summit.

It should be noted that the Namibian president does not recognize the ICC and therefore for him the situation is not as embarrassing as it is for Pretoria.

The Namibian president argued that the ICC was established before Namibia’s independence and Namibia has its judicial system.
