More than 317,000 Moroccans are Covered by Social Security in Spain

The Spanish Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Social Security revealed that more than 317,000 Moroccans are registered with social security in Spain, according to statistics from last March of this year.

According to data provided by the ministry, Moroccans managed to stay at the top of the ranking of foreign workers from outside the European Union, who contribute to social security in Spain, with 317,137 registered Moroccans.

The ministry recorded that the total number of foreigners involved in Spanish social security reached 2,525,887 during March, registering an increase of 59,645 people, compared to February of the same year.

As about 879,943 Moroccans reside legally in Spain, this number, which was recorded on January 1, 2022, an increase of 0.8 percent compared to January 1, 2021.

With this step, Moroccans maintained their rank as the first foreign community legally residing in Spain, representing 16 percent of the foreigners residing in the country.

It should be noted that the Spanish Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Social Security had previously revealed that a total of 285,046 Moroccans had enrolled in social security in Spain, in July 2022, as they remained at the top of the ranking of foreign workers from outside the European Union who contribute to social security. In Spain, followed by the Colombians with 122 thousand and 192, and the Venezuelans with 118 thousand and 147.
