The Pan-African Parliament (PAP), based in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Sunday, expressed concern about the armed conflict in Sudan.

PAP president Fortune Charumbira said the new outbreak of violence, which comes in the middle of the month of Ramadan, is spoiling the significant gains the Republic of Sudan has made in its quest for peace and stability.

The remarks were made following clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the country’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

While affirming the determination of the Pan-African Parliament to contribute to peace and security in Sudan, Mr. Charumbira called on all parties to make efforts to restore lasting peace and stability.

He urged the Sudanese to resolve their differences through mediation and dialogue.
