On Sunday morning in the Central African Republic, nine Chinese nationals were killed in an attack on the site of the Chinese mining company “Gold Coast Group”, located in the village of Chingbolo.

The death toll was confirmed on Monday by the Chinese authorities, who said there were also two seriously injured, without giving further details on the circumstances of the attack.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for the necessary means to help the injured and to penalize those responsible for the murder by the law.

The Coalition of Patriots for Change (CPC) denied any involvement in the attack in a statement on Sunday.

The Central African Republic has been considered a theatre of civil war since 2013.
