According to the local correspondent of Agence France Presse, two years after his kidnapping in Mali by the jihadist alliance of the Group of Support for Islam and Muslims (GSIM) in Gao, northern Mali, the French journalist Olivier Dubois arrived free on Monday at Niamey airport.

He said he was tired but well, and welcomed his freedom.

On this occasion, the journalist paid tribute to Niger for its know-how in this delicate mission.

The French journalist, who worked with several media such as Libération, Le Point, and Jeune Afrique, had been living and working in Mali since 2015 when he was kidnapped.

Appearing alongside Olivier Dubois, American journalist Jeffery Woodke, kidnapped in 2016 in Niger, was also released.
