Following a rescue operation by conservationists, 13 Masai giraffes from the Moi Ndabi region in Kenya’s Naivasha basin were darted and placed onto trucks. They had been under threat from proachers and were in conflict with nearby residents.

The giraffes have now been relocated to conservancies, including the Loldia farm, 120 kilometers (75 miles) northwest of Nairobi, where they will be watched by veterinarians and capture officers from the government-run Kenya Wildlife Service.

They will join an animal population that already exists at the property, where they will have plenty of room to roam and water to drink.

Dominic Mijele, 42 years old, a giraffe rescuer with the organization, is eager to do more. He has been saving giraffes for 18 years.

There won’t be any confrontation between humans and wildlife because they would be “extremely well protected (in Loldia farm) with abundant water and browse (vegetation),” he claimed.
