Migration crisis in Tunisia: Senegalese Embassy in Tunis Establishes a Crisis Cell

On Sunday, the Senegalese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in a statement that it had established a crisis cell at the Senegalese embassy in Tunisia to safeguard the well-being of Senegalese nationals and their belongings.

In the same statement, the Senegalese ministry noted that it is following closely the situation of migrants of sub-Saharan origin and that it will guarantee the security and safety of Senegalese communities in all circumstances.

While calling on Senegalese nationals in Tunisia to remain calm and serene, the ministry also said it was “in contact with the heads of Senegalese associations in Tunisia.

After the speech by Kais Saied, Tunisian president, accusing African nationals in an irregular situation of being the cause of the rise in crime, the sub-Saharan community is subject to arrests, violence, and persecution.
