A crucial complaint that sparked a pilot strike has been addressed by Kenya Airways (KQNA.NR), which will resume monthly contributions to its staff pension fund that were halted because of the COVID virus, according to an internal memo released on Thursday.

When the airline’s 400 pilots went on strike in November last year, they arrested hundreds of customers, demanding the resumption of pension contributions and the resolution of deferred payments. The strike ended after a court decision.

One of the largest airlines in Africa will start making donations again next month, according to the document, but it is under no obligation to make up any missed payments since the program was discontinued in March 2020.

According to a memo signed by Tom Shivo, the airline’s chief of human resources, the decision was made in response to an evaluation of the company’s “continuous improvement in operations.”

The management of the airline did not make any immediate remarks regarding the memo’s contents.
