In response to an attack on a home in the Abdiasiz neighborhood of northern Mogadishu that left 10 civilians dead, Somalian government soldiers are starting to move in.

Al-Shabaab, an Al-Qaeda-affiliated extremist group, has claimed responsibility for the attack.

According to the authorities, the raid occurred in the northern Abdiaziz district at 1200 GMT, and three civilians were hurt as a result.

It added that during the raid, “the security forces rescued and removed several additional citizens from that house and other neighboring buildings.”
Al-Shabaab, an affiliate of Al-Qaeda, made the act it’s own.

The assailants “stormed the facility after exploding the main gate with explosives,” according to a soldier called Mohamed Ali who was on the scene.

A battle supported by US airstrikes and an African Union force known as ATMIS in recent months has seen the Somali army and local clan militias reclaim portions of territory from the terrorists.

Nonetheless, Al-Shabaab, which has been at war with the government since 2007, continues to hold control over some rural areas from which they have launched several reprisal attacks in both Somalia and its neighboring nations.
