According to a press release from the Directorate General for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), the director of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation, who is in Morocco on a working visit and leads a high-level US intelligence team, was welcomed to Rabat on Tuesday Director General for Internal Security and Territorial Surveillance Abdellatif Hammouchi.

This working visit is the second of its kind under the joint program of action between the two parties, following the first visit by the Director General of National Security and Homeland Security to the United States of America in June 2022, during which he met the director of the American intelligence services, the president of the central intelligence agency and the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, specifies the same source.

It is emphasized that “this new meeting was an opportunity for the two sides to take stock of the strong bilateral cooperative relationship that unites them on the one hand.

The General Directorate of National Security and the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance, and, on the other hand, the American Federal Bureau of Investigation, and to discuss emerging threats and security challenges relating to the various phenomena linked to transnational crime.”

During these talks, the two parties examined the mechanisms capable of combating the movement of fighters from terrorist organizations through border crossings, and of promoting the exchange of information concerning these fighters, in addition to the consolidation of operational cooperation in the fight against threats linked to chemical, biological and nuclear weapons, and the widening of the field of distinguished bilateral collaboration in the field of the fight against terrorism to encompass the Sahelo-Saharan zone.
