An accident between a tour bus and a cash truck near the town of Louis Trichardt in South Africa has left 20 people dead and 68 injured.
A private emergency medical service said the bus carrying 69 passengers had fallen off the highway bridge into the river below, adding that three people were found dead on the roadside and 16 on the riverbank. One injured person died after being transferred to hospital.
Similarly, the injured were transported to different hospitals in the province for necessary treatment, the medical services added.
A team of divers has been mobilized to search for people who may have been swept away by the river, the provincial Department of Transport and Community Safety said.
Road accidents are very recurrent in South Africa and cost the government dearly, which has recently expressed concern about the increase in fatal road accidents.
