After describing jihadists as Islamists, France 24 receives a notice from the media censorship authority in Burkina Faso (CSC), after passing on the news of the kidnapping of dozens of women in the country.
The French channel mentioned in its report that about 60 women were kidnapped by “Islamic rebels,” adding that the news was transmitted by the transitional government, which attributed the kidnapping to armed terrorist groups.
CSC considered that what the channel did was a failure in respecting ethical principles, especially with regard to accuracy.
The CSC also considered that designating terrorists as Islamic rebels impede peaceful coexistence between religions and may endanger the efforts of the authorities.
