The president of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Felix Tshisekedi, visited Moroni in the Comoros where he held talks with the president of the Comoros, Azali Assoumani.

At a joint conference held after the talks between the two heads of state, the DRC president accused Rwanda of imposing a “barbaric war” in the east of his territory, hoping that peace would be established in his country.

Azali Assoumani was asked by President Felix, as he is a candidate for the presidency of the African Union and could help bring stability to the DRC.

For his part, the Comorian president said they reviewed conflicts in Africa, including the problems of the Great Lakes.

The DRC and Rwanda have been experiencing tensions lately since the resurgence in 2021 of the M23 rebels, supported by Rwanda according to the DRC. The country has been plagued by violence from armed groups for three decades.
