Trade between Sudan and Ethiopia has stopped, due to angry residents blocking a vital road in protest against attacks by Ethiopian armed militias

The closure of the continental road in the Atarab region since Thursday, led to the suspension of commercial traffic between Sudan and Ethiopia, with the accumulation of goods and trucks along the road, according to Sudanese media.

The “Sudan Tribune” website revealed that a number of farmers complained about the interruption of harvesting of cotton and corn crops, after their efforts to transfer Ethiopian workers to agricultural areas faltered, while truck owners and drivers live in tragic conditions.

Furthermore, Attempts by the security and military services to persuade the residents to open the road and restore trade have failed.
