For the first time, the Prime Minister of Equatorial Guinea is a woman, after the appointment of the country’s President Teodoro Obiang Nguema, his deputy, Manuela Roka Botey, to this position.

According to the presidential decree issued on January 31, the three deputy prime ministers will continue in their positions.

With this appointment, Manuela Roka Botey replaced Francisco Pascual Obama Asoy, to become the first Equatoguinin woman to hold the position.

Roka Puti has been Vice-Chancellor of the National University of Equatorial Guinea, and has also been a campaigner on the PDGE Banni Provincial Monitoring Committee.
