A new agreement to finance the Green Public Lighting System in Chefchaouen

    A financial agreement of green public lighting project for chefchaouen has been signed between the UNCDF “The United Nations Capital Development Fund”, the UN Hub for Subnational Finance and the city.

    This global financing mechanism has been devloped by The United Nations Capital Development Fund, under a global initiative programme that targets an initial of 900 cities with the lowest and medium income  around the world, which has began in 2020 and will last until 2030.

    The programme aims to increase the capacity of local government, so as to focus on some challenges as urbanisation and the ability to access to sustainable sources of capital finance.

    Moreover, this programme aims to influence local government resources to prepare and organize a public and private investment, and find more financial sources to local challenges.

    The morocco’s blue city’s project on public lighting will equip the city of public lighting network, and safety investments in cables, streetlights and electrical cabinets.

    In the same matter, the city will also benefit from the energy-saving equipment and low energy LED lamps, while the priority will be given to the investmentsin the modern lighting and LED lamp at the Hassan II Avenue.
