São Tomé’s PM Confirms the return of the stability

The Prime Minister of São Tomé e Príncipe, Patrice Trovoada, confirmed that the situation in the country is under control, after the failed coup attempt on Thursday.

Trovoada congratulated the armed forces, which were able to put an end to the coup, carried out by civilians under the command of certain personalities, according to the prime minister.

The prime minister, who has only been in office for two weeks, said that the armed forces can actually do their job and that they went to confront the militants, he added that It is up to them to achieve stability.

Four people lost their lives at least, and many others were arrested, of whom Delfim Neves, the former president of the outgoing National Assembly.
