According to the Spanish press, a party in the Government of Pedro Sánchez demanded an acceleration of procedures for the contract for the manufacture of a warship for Moroccan forces, stating that “the commencement of the completion process will create dozens of jobs and working hours in the Spanish city of Cadiz”.
According to the same sources, it is a matter of “a deal Morocco entered into with the Spanish company Navantia in January last year, when the Minister of Finance, María Jesus Monteiro, announced that the Spanish company Navantia had entered into a contract with Morocco to build a warship for the Royal Navy of Morocco, worth up to some 150 million euros”.
In the same vein, an official Spanish party stated that “the start of the completion of this ship will create at least 250 direct jobs, in addition to millions of working hours, over the course of years”, stressing that “this will have a positive impact on many Spanish families in certain areas of Qaddas”.
The Spanish newspaper El País, in a previous report, had revealed that the naval warship ordered by Morocco from Navantia was “80 metres long, weighing 1,500 tons and accommodating 80 people as crew members”, but the diplomatic crisis between the two countries in April 2021 to March 2022 had caused the completion process to be suspended.
