The High Court of Kano State has issued an ex parte order prohibiting Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), from presenting himself as a member of the party. As a result, the court has instructed Ganduje to abstain from overseeing any activities of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC.

This decision follows an ex parte motion filed by Dr. Ibrahim Sa’ad on behalf of two executive members of Ganduje’s ward in Dawakin-Tofa Local Government Area: Laminu Sani, the Assistant Secretary, and Haladu Gwanjo, the Legal Adviser. These individuals were among the nine ward executives who suspended Ganduje on Monday.

Presided over by Justice Usman Na’abba, the court directed all parties involved, including the APC, NWC, APC Kano State Working Committee, and Ganduje, to maintain the status quo as of April 15, 2024, pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit scheduled for April 30, 2024.

Justice Na’abba further prohibited the APC Kano State Working Committee from interfering with the decision made by the executives of Ganduje’s ward, which was endorsed by a two-thirds majority of the executives, as stipulated by the party’s constitution.

The ex parte order states, “An order is hereby granted directing all parties in the suit APC (first), APC National Working Committee (second), Kano State Working Committee APC (third), Dr. Abdullah Umar Ganduje (fourth), to maintain status quo as of April 15, 2024.”

This ruling underscores the court’s commitment to upholding legal processes and ensuring adherence to party regulations, while also reflecting the complexities within the APC’s internal affairs.
