National Professional Office for Grains and Cotton Announces Support Measures for Grain Storage in the Kingdom

In the latest development from the National Professional Office for Grains and Cotton, a set of measures regarding grain storage in the Kingdom has been unveiled. It is planned that the storage of imported soft wheat will receive support at a rate of 2.5 dirhams per quintal. This initiative comes at a time when the national agricultural sector grapples with the repercussions of drought.

According to the memorandum issued by the office, this support will be applied to imported soft wheat during the period from the beginning of February to April 30th of the current year. The support will be limited to 10 million quintals, aiming to stimulate imports to ensure an adequate supply of this vital commodity.

Through these measures, the office aims to secure a supply of 10 million quintals of soft wheat over the next three months. It is anticipated that 3 million quintals will be provided monthly during both February and March, with the quantity increasing to 4 million quintals in April.

The memorandum also stipulates that the storage support will be granted exclusively to warehouses holding a valid health license issued by the National Office for Food Safety. The National Professional Office for Grains and Cotton will conduct regular visits to monitor these warehouses.

This initiative is part of the broader strategy to address challenges in the agricultural sector and ensure a stable and sustainable supply chain for essential commodities. The support for grain storage aims to fortify the nation’s resilience against external factors and contribute to the overall food security.
