As a heatwave looms over several provinces, including Gauteng, Johannesburg’s Emergency Management Services (EMS) are gearing up for potential challenges.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a warning, anticipating persistently high temperatures from Wednesday to Friday in Gauteng, Free State, North West, Northern Cape, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, and KwaZulu-Natal.
EMS spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi assured the city’s readiness to respond to incidents during the heatwave. Residents are urged to take precautions, staying hydrated, avoiding direct sunlight between 11:00 and 15:00, and those working outdoors advised to take regular breaks to prevent heat-related health issues.
