Vice President Kashim Shettima, Borno’s Deputy Governor Umar Usman Kadafur, Senators, House of Representatives members, and other high-ranking government officials attended the funeral prayers (Janaza) for the late Hajiya Fatsuma Kyari, who was the Mother-in-Law to the Governor of Borno State, Babagana Umara Zulum.
Hajiya Fatsuma Kyari passed away on Monday morning in Abuja after a brief illness at the age of 67. She was the mother of Borno’s first lady, Dr. Falmata Babagana Zulum.
The funeral prayers were led by the Chief Imam of Borno, Imam Ibrahim Laisu, at the First Lady’s family compound in Maiduguri on Monday afternoon.
The gathering also included the Minister of Transport, Sa’idu Alkali, the Managing Director of the Northeast Development Commission, Mohammed Goni Alkali, the Secretary to the Borno State Government, Hon. Bukat Tijjani, the Vice-Chancellor of Borno State University, Professor Umar Kyari Sandabe, and other academics.
The Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Elkanemi, led other Emirs, members of the Borno Emirate Council, and Islamic scholars in paying their respects.
