At least 9 individuals lost their lives on November 4, 2023, in Conakry during a commando operation in which heavily armed men temporarily secured the release of the former leader of the country, Moussa Dadis Camara, along with three other inmates, according to the General Prosecutor’s Office on November 6.

Calm returned to the capital on Sunday, following a day of tension surrounding the escape of four prominent figures from the central penitentiary. Three of them, including Dadis Camara, were returned to their cells on Saturday evening. However, Claude Pivi, the former Minister of Security of the junta, remains actively sought after by the authorities.
