Various media reports have indicated that a group of Libyan football players lost their lives due to the floods that swept through the city of Derna in eastern Libya.

According to a correspondent from the Qatari sports channel “beIN Sports,” several players from local teams tragically perished in this devastating incident.

The same source explained that some of the players lost their lives alongside their families as a result of the cyclone that struck eastern Libya. The search for other missing individuals is ongoing as part of the rescue efforts.

On Tuesday, the Libyan Ambulance and Emergency Service announced that 2,300 people had lost their lives, with more than 5,000 reported missing due to the floods that hit Derna. They also mentioned that rescue teams are continuously arriving in the city to assist.

Since Sunday, the eastern regions of Libya and the Green Mountain have experienced severe floods, resulting in the deaths and disappearance of numerous citizens, as well as the inundation of many homes and infrastructure. This was caused by the “Cyclone Daniel,” which reached the region from the Mediterranean Sea.
