On September 5th, 2023, the United Nations Secretary-General urged the world at the African Climate Summit in Nairobi to make Africa a “renewable energy superpower.”
Antonio Guterres emphasized the potential of renewable energy, stating, “Renewable energy could be Africa’s miracle. We must work together to ensure that Africa becomes a renewable energy superpower.”
In the same breath, Guterres called on the leaders of the G20, convening in India this weekend, to “acknowledge their responsibilities” in the fight against climate change.
