Morocco.. MAD 3.84 Million Support for Visual and Fine Arts Sector

The Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication has announced the results of the support provided to the Visual and Fine Arts sector in the first cycle of 2023, with a total value of AED 3.84 million.

According to a ministry statement, the Support Project Evaluation Committee for the Visual and Fine Arts sector convened between June 19th and 24th to review the support applications, which amounted to 331 files. The committee approved support for projects amounting to MAD 3,842,000.

The statement further elaborated that the support funds are allocated to various areas, including artist residencies (MAD 90,000), organizing exhibitions and specialized salons for Visual and Fine Arts (MAD 1,395,000), visual creativity (MAD 704,000), and art acquisition (MAD 1,653,000). However, no projects in the field of participation in exhibitions and salons for Visual and Fine Arts received support in this cycle.

The committee responsible for evaluating and selecting the projects for this cycle consisted of a team led by Mahdi Zouak, along with members Reem Al-Laabi, Bouchta El-Hayani, Rachid El-Bernoussi, Abdelhak Afendi, Abdelaziz Idressi, Mohammed Baniakoub, and Rachida Lakhal.

The selection criteria for the supported projects were based on aspects such as project quality, innovation, influence, the professional background of the project owner, contribution to promoting Visual and Fine Arts products, artists’ standing in the art scene, the project’s theme, cultural diversity, and contribution to showcasing Moroccan artistic creativity on the national and international levels.
